Kenya Network Information Centre (KeNIC) is at the cusp of transformative initiatives aimed at birthing explosive growth of online presence for micro and small enterprises, schools, private and government institutions in Kenya. We are geared to reach 300,000 .KE domains by 2026 and 1,000,000 .KE domains in 2030.

About .KE Awards

This will be the 8th Annual .KE Registrar Awards Ceremony.

The 1st Awards Ceremony was held in February 2016, 2nd Awards Ceremony took place in February 2018, 3rd Awards Ceremony was held in April 2019, 4th edition was held in March 2020 in a Hybrid Event.

Due to the pandemic and adherence to the MoH guidelines, the 5th Awards Ceremony was also held in a Hybrid format in May 2021, the 6th Awards Ceremony was held in March 2022 and the 7th Awards Ceremony was held in March 2023. 

Whose are .KE Registrars? These are KeNIC’s direct clients / customers who act as intermediaries between the end product user (Registrant) and the Registry (KeNIC). They are accredited by KeNIC and Licensed by The Communications Authority of Kenya to operate in the provision of IP and .KE domains.

The Kenya Internet Summit (formerly Kenya Domain Name System Forum (DNS) is here to equip participants with the knowledge, resources, and connections needed to contribute effectively to the Kenyan internet showcase technological achievements of the year and advocating for international knowledge exchange and collaborations in internet ecosystem.

As the Kenya DNS Forum aimed to help the Kenya Registry to grow at a competitive rate and ensure that Kenya is at par with the rest of the world’s Registries, Kenya Internet Summit (KIS) is themed bridging the digital divide and leveraging the power of partnerships for societal benefit.

KeNIC has hosted 2 Africa DNS Forums – 2015 and 2022 and 3 National DNS Forums from 2021, 2022 and 2023. Through the years these events saw over 800+ local, regional and international delegates and brough in collaborating partners such as

About Awards

This will be the 8th Annual Awards Ceremony, the 1st Awards Ceremony was held on 11th February 2016 at Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, while 2nd Awards Ceremony took place on Friday, 23rd February 2018 at Pride INN, Westlands.

The 3rd Awards Ceremony was held on 12th April 2019 at Intercontinental Nairobi followed by the 4th KeNIC Registrar Awards Ceremony that was held at Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi on 20th March 2020 in a Hybrid Event.

Due to the pandemic and adherence to the MoH guidelines, the 5th Awards Ceremony was also held in a Hybrid format on Thursday 13, May 2021 Movenpick Hotel Nairobi, the 6th Awards Ceremony was held at Pride Inn on March 23rd 2022 and the 7th Awards Ceremony was held at Movenpick on March 23rd 2023. 

This year’s event will be a physical event on 15th August, 2024. The Awards ceremony are celebrated each year, and are aimed at:

  • Recognizing efforts by accredited .KE registrars in growing the .KE brand
  • Discuss pertinent issues that impact on the growth of .KE domains numbers
  • Strengthen our engagement and foster a better working relationship with one of our key partners aimed at increasing domain Registrations and Renewals to meet the 2024 targets
